Oral motor skills are necessary for the movement of our lips, tongue and cheeks and these are essential for our daily functions such as eating and speaking. Children may have oral motor disorders if they have difficulty controlling or managing their lips and jaw muscles. Oral motor disorders are sometimes caused by neurological disorders, birth defects and cleft palate.
Speech Time will provide assessment and evaluation to identify possible oral motor disorder symptoms that are present in your child. Speech therapy services and muscle exercises will be provided to enhance your child’s oral motor skills.
